The Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic were admitted to membership in the 51Ó°Ôº on 18 September 1973. Through the accession of the German Democratic Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany, effective from 3 October 1990, the two German States united to form one sovereign State.
