¡°Reimagining Blended Finance: Aligning Capital with the SDGs¡±
Fourth Financing for Development Conference
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to this Global Policy Dialogue on ¡°Reimagining Blended Finance: Aligning Capital with the SDGs.¡± Thank you for joining us, both in person and online.
We are just five years from our 2030 deadline, yet the SDG financing gap is still widening. As the world faces converging crises, bold and coordinated action is crucial. In particular, we need financing strategies that are not only ambitious but also inclusive, innovative, and impactful.
When structured effectively, blended finance can unlock private capital for sustainable development. However, current models fall short of the scale, speed, and impact required. Too often, investments are concentrated in a few markets and sectors, leaving behind the countries and communities most in need.
Therefore, this Dialogue offers an opportunity to ask: How can we do better? How can we reshape blended finance to better align with the SDGs? What reforms are needed in our global financial architecture to make that possible?
I look forward to hearing innovative ideas from the panelists. I¡¯m grateful to these members of the UN High-level Advisory Board on Economic and Social Affairs who are with us today. Their insights and experience will help us chart a path forward that places impact, equity, and resilience at the center of finance.
We look forward to your engagement¡ªthrough our polls and your questions¡ªas part of this vibrant exchange.
Let¡¯s think creatively, act boldly, and commit to better financing partnerships that deliver for people and planet.
Thank you.
